10 Career Tips From Hank Moody & Californication

The show's central character Hank Moody, portrayed by David Duchovny, is an erratic but esteemed writer who frequently becomes embroiled in bizarre, and in some cases, scandalous situations. Yet he's highly successful and everyone loves him, or loves to hate him.
Hank's a messed up guy, yet I still think there's a lot we can learn from his straight forward, no-bullshit attitude towards life.
So here's what I came up with:
1. Always have fun. But keep your eye on the prize.
2. Not everyone will agree with what you do or how you do it. Your art, your music, your startup… whatever it is, they are yours and yours alone. Most people will not share your vision, passion and dedication towards it. Oh well. Carry on and prove them wrong. In other words, Fuck 'em.
3. No matter how bad you screw things up, don't let a mistake or a failed attempt stop you from continuing to pursue your goal.
4. Great things can happen from random encounters. Get out there! Network and meet new people.
5. Live your life like no one's looking.
6. Be funny. Nothing is more appealing than having a sense of humour.
7. Family and friends first.
8. Keep it real. Be who you are with no false pretences. Don't be a fake.
9. Confidence is key.
10. It's better to apologize later, than ask for permission first. Take risks.
What do you think, did I miss anything?
