It’s The Bleeder Blog’s One Year Anniversary!

Yup, this blog and website has been up and running for a full year now, so it’s time to celebrate with some free new music, woohoo!

When we launched
The Bleeder Blog in December 2008, we did it alongside a free album download, titled Get Thorny. It featured sixteen tracks by sixteen up and coming independent artists, and the response was overwhelming. In the past year we’ve had thousands and thousands of music fans from all over the world download the compilation and fall in love with some new artists which they probably would never of had the chance of hearing before.

So now we’re doing it again with
Get Thorny 2. Seventeen tracks from seventeen amazing independent artists in glorious 320 kbps MP3 high fidelity. Each track has been carefully filtered through our Thorny Bleeder ears to ensure that we pass along nothing but the finest to our listeners...Click To Read More...

Top 50 Albums Of The Decade

Filed in:
Top-50

Here it is, a music nerd’s list of my Top Albums Of The Decade, from 2000-2009.

I had originally planned to simply create a Top 10, but after I started pouring over all of the eligible contenders I realized that restricting my list to only ten albums was virtually impossible. I’ve enjoyed so many albums this past decade that choosing ten albums just didn’t seem fair.

One of the problems I encounter when making a favourite album list is my wide range of tastes. I love rock, punk, metal, alternative, indie, and jazz all the same; so it’s hard for me to place a Slayer album next to a Norah Jones album on the same list.

So to remedy this situation I’ve created two lists: a Top 25 for Hard Rock and a Top 25 for Alternative & Indie. Each list is below...

The Rebellion - Time

MP3: The Rebellion - Dr. Don't

On Tuesday, December 29, Thorny Bleeder Records releases Time, the remixed and remastered debut album from The Rebellion. The album features the first single Dr. Don’t.

To some, Josh Palmer may look familiar to you. Palmer is a former Canadian Idol contestant from 2005. In just over a decade, Palmer has gone from child prodigy to Canadian celebrity. He toured across the nation from coast to coast by the time he was 17, released independent solo albums, and was watched by 3.5 million people each week on Canadian Idol. But after leaving the Canadian Idol stage, Palmer was frustrated with not being able to showcase himself as a real artist.

Rather than continue on the course of doing another solo album, Palmer decided it was time to start a new band. He recruited Romanian multi-instrumentalist Silviu Moldovan on guitar, Congolese percussionist Christian Kongawi on drums, and Ryan Schultz on bass.

Help Send Ross Neilsen To Mississippi

Filed in:
Ross Neilsen and the Sufferin Bastards are an old school band in many ways, but they ain’t-yo-grand-daddies-kinda blues. The boys are coming off their 3rd cross Canada tour, hoisting a nomination for 'Best New Group' at this years Maple Blues Awards, and they need your help this Xmas.

They're hosting an online bottle drive to cover the $12,000 cost of heading to Zebra Ranch studios in Mississippi to record with producer, Cody Dickinson (North Mississippi All-Stars, Hill Country Review).

Donate the proceeds from your 'empties' at www.rossneilsen.com this holiday season and keep the blues alive!
