Band to Watch: Black Hat Villain

Filed in:
Black Hat Villain

I just got back from Victoria (on Vancouver Island) yesterday, after going to check out the newly re-launched Black Hat Villain, which now features Scott Valentine on vocals. While this was only their second live performance with their new lineup, you'd never guess it judging by how unbelievably solid these guys are. 'Pro' is an understatement. These guys are ready to go and I won't be surprised if they have major labels knocking on their door very soon.

Black Hat Villain is an extremely exciting band to watch on stage whose seasoned players ooze with confidence, skill, and swagger. Song-wise, think Stone Temple Pilots meeting Tragically Hip while hanging out with Pearl Jam.

Without a doubt, exciting things are on the horizon from these guys, they're definitely a band to watch. It was pretty obvious that the Victoria scene was anticipating this show, with quite a few people in the crowd sporting their own 'black hat fedoras' in tribute to the band's name.

While Black Hat Villain don't have any of their new songs available online yet, they did film last Saturday's show at Sugar in Victoria, so you'll be able to see some live video clips very soon, which I'll post here on The Bleeder Blog as soon as they're available. The band is hitting the studio in early July to record their debut EP, so we'll be able to share some new music with you very soon.

Until then, join their Facebook page
