Beneath The Surface: Women In Rock

Have you ever noticed in politics that when a female representative doesn’t win the votes, they almost never run again the following year? It appears as though career-oriented women today tend to fall off the horse and never seem to get back on. The same thing appears to happen in today’s music industry.
Or is everything as it appears? Is there more to it than what we see on the surface?
For those that may be quick to pass judgment, let’s take a different look, from a bird’s-eye view perspective.
"Success" is often compared to climbing to the top of a huge mountain Starving, bleeding, crying; but still ever-so-passionate about making it to the top.
But sometimes, when you've finally scaled to the peak you look out into the distance and you see an even bigger and better mountain, calling your name. Deciding, “Hmm...I think I’d rather be at the top of that one instead.” Only to start a new journey from the beginning, but nonetheless satisfied with your previous success.

Since her experience on Mark Burnett's rock reality show, Jenny has started her own solo project titled Army Of Jennys. She's re-inventing the wheel through her music, which she refers to as her own genre, a perfect mix she calls "Electro/Mood/Pop."
After making the final cut on Rockstar Supernova in 2006, Jenny realized that rock is more a lifestyle than it is a genre of music. And the rock star way of life is not the picture-perfect dream that we all envision it to be.
So would she do it all over again, given the chance?
“No. Music is not a contest. Music is a greater good that everyone can benefit from.”
That being said, she is now starting her journey up a new, bigger and better mountain. Starting from the bottom-up and being true to herself, creating a chemistry that first comes from within, flows outward, and captivates an audience. An audience of those who are not just there to listen, but to also experience.
After she completes her debut solo album she plans to tour again, building a new name for herself, and to find new success with a career that expresses who she is as an artist, not a competitive vocalist.
“There’s not a lot of room in this industry to change“, Jenny says.
Humans grow and evolve, so why shouldn’t an artist's style?
It's not about getting back on the horse you fall off of...it's about finding the right horse to accompany you for the ride.
