Live Music Aboard Pirate Ship Sinks

Filed in:

In case you haven't noticed the update on our Facebook Page, the gigs aboard the Russian Tall Ship The Kruzenshtern have all been cancelled.

We had quite the headache aboard the ship last Friday when Columbia and Black Hat Villain were set to perform on the evening of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic opening ceremonies. Unfortunately neither band was able to perform and all subsequent gigs were cancelled by the ship's entertainment coordinator.

Here's the update which sent out from the local promoter who was booking the event, Inidigo Unleashed:

"It is my regret to announce that the shows aboard the Kruzenstern are cancelled. After fighting for our bands to have a chance to play this OLYMPIC EVENT, it has fallen out of our control and the Russian ship and its operators have taken away the dates that they had granted to us with late notice.

Though we are disappointed by the cancellation, we hope that the fall through has saved the bands from the poor treatment that both we and several bands had suffered at the hands of the Russian promoters and ship operators. For a government sponsored event, their end was neferiously poorly planned and their business ethics were negligent at best.

Our appologies, we hope to work with these great bands in the future and see all of you at our next shows.
