Scott Valentine has just moved into the final round of yet another amazing opportunity for this gifted songwriter. Valentine's song "Save The World" (see the video below) is now in the Top 55 selections out of more than 700 national applicants for the David Suzuki Foundation's Playlist For The Planet competition, done with the support of the CBC Radio3 user community.
The finalists were just announced and the final Voting Round has already started this morning. The details are simple, vote once a day from now until Sept. 7th.
So, once again I'm having to call upon our readers, supporters, and fans to help us out with daily voting. We need your help to make this dream a reality for Scott Valentine! If you know anything about Valentine, he truly wants to save the world, and having one of his songs added to his lifelong hero's (David Suzuki) projects would mean the world to him.
Together we can do it...let's support this amazing and gifted artist and give him the the increased exposure and recognition he deserves.

The one and only David Suzuki has recently launched a new contest for singer/songwriters, the Playlist For The Planet Contest. Check out his website here for more information.
A Playlist for the Planet CD and downloadable album will be released by Universal Music this October — and we're hoping to get the Scott Valentine song "Save The World" to be part of it. We hope Save The World will become an anthem for change — a song that will inspire us all!
Since a clean, healthy, sustainable planet is something we all need, David Suzuki and CBC Radio 3 are putting out a Canada-wide call for songwriters of all levels to bring their talents forward.

A part of this contest will be the all-too-familiar Vote For Me element, which has become all too commonplace within music and social media these days. We hate always having to ask for votes, it's just far too "spammy" for our likes...but...what can we do? This is a contest which is near and dear to both us and Scott Valentine, so we need to just dive in and play along.

Scott Valentine Hits Top 20 in Shore FM Song Search

We're happy to report that Scott Valentine has made it into the Top 20 for the 2010 Sounds Of Summer Song Search, put on by SHORE 104 FM in Vancouver!
We submitted a song called 'Do It For Love' from Valentine's epic five disc Seasons album for the competition and are thrilled that the judges loved the song as much as we do. This single hasn't been aired on the radio yet, but you'll be hearing it very soon on 104 Shore! If you want to hear this new single, pop on over to Valentine's MySpace page here.
Shore FM will be profiling each of the Top 20 artists on air and soon you'll have the chance to vote for your favourite.

If you're a regular reader of The Bleeder Blog, you'll remember a blog we posted in late April titled: Vancouver Musician Cultivates Earth Day Interest. On Earth Day, April 22, Victoria singer/songwriter Scott Valentine hit the streets of Vancouver and handed out 19,000 digital songs via free download cards.
It's a little grassroots street level marketing campaign which I've decided to call Digital Busking (or if you prefer, Busking 2.0). So if you happen to hear this term pop up anywhere in the next couple of years, remember that you heard it here first!

Victoria BC-based Scott Valentine Delivers Free Music with a Twist
On Earth Day, April 22, Victoria singer/songwriter Scott Valentine is hitting the streets of Vancouver with a new tune…literally.
The homegrown singer/songwriter was moved to action by the insufficient spotlight today’s environmental issues receive. Valentine will be at high-exposure downtown Vancouver locations on Earth Day, promoting his second single, ‘Green The New Black’ (as heard on 104.3 Shore FM) by handing out 1,000 free music drop cards, each with a unique PIN providing the recipient with a free download of what Valentine hopes will be eventually recognized as the Unofficial Earth Day Anthem.
But there’s a unique twist…these drop cards are made from 100% post-consumer junk mail and embedded with wildflower seeds. After each card has been redeemed it can be planted under a thin layer of soil and it will blossom into a wildflower garden!
“It should be Earth Day, all day, every day,” says Valentine. “I believe this song will plant that seed of awareness. These drop cards are a pretty cool way of celebrating that.”

I just got back from Victoria (on Vancouver Island) yesterday, after going to check out the newly re-launched Black Hat Villain, which now features Scott Valentine on vocals. While this was only their second live performance with their new lineup, you'd never guess it judging by how unbelievably solid these guys are. 'Pro' is an understatement. These guys are ready to go and I won't be surprised if they have major labels knocking on their door very soon.
