They're the epitome of the balls-to-the-wall work ethic and the tireless hustle that's needed to stand out from the rest of the crowd. And that they are. Just take a look at the following self-booked tour these Bastards are about to embark on.

Canada, do yourself a favour and catch this band live on one of the following dates! This is the real deal... an exciting, live, dirty blues rawk n' roll touring-machine!

Ross Neilsen Receives ECMA Nomination for Blues Recording of the Year

Filed in:

The 2011 ECMA Nominations came out last week and we're thrilled to announce that our very own Ross Neilsen & The Sufferin' Bastards have been nominated for Blues Recording of the Year. Congrats guys!

Check out these recent quotes from John Vermilyea at
The Blues Report:

"
Over the last 3 years, Ross Neilsen and the Sufferin' Bastards, have been catching the attention of a lot of people, not only with their epic tourings, 240,000+Kms, but also because of their epic sound. Hailing from the East Coast of Canada, they already have 5 national tours and over 600 shows under their belts and they managed to do it 100% independently on their own, which is a testament to their creative business savvy."

"Redemption" comes at you hot n heavy, straight out of the gates, and if you think you going to get a bathroom break or even want one, when listening to this gem, think again. Ross Neilsen and the Sufferin' Bastards are an invigorating, energetic, and rejuvenating sound, the likes of which you have not heard in a long time. Especially true for Neilsen's Over Drive Style of Guitar Playing.

"Redemption" gets a resounding high five from me via my highest rating of 5*****. Brilliant and Fresh Blues/Rock, all in one fabulous package. Ross Neilsen and the Sufferin' Bastards are not only going places, but they are also going far.

Canada's Longest Running Blues Program Interviews Ross Neilsen

Filed in:
Ross Neilsen and The Sufferin' Bastards

Ross Neilsen and The Sufferin' Bastards have been getting their fair share of press lately. And with good reason. This hard working band is in the middle of yet another cross-Canadian tour while promoting their new album, Redemption. And with their new single 'Afflicted' getting spins at blues specialty programs, college radio, and rock radio stations across the country, the press is taking notice. Hard work pays off as the band has been getting articles and reviews in almost every city they play in, which is a fantastic tribute to these road warriors.

While at a tour stop in Edmonton last week Neilsen had the pleasure of co-hosting the Natch'l Blues show on the CKUA Radio Network with host Holger Petersen.

This is Canada's longest-running blues program and has been on the air since 1969. Natch’l Blues is the quintessential destination for the serious blues fan or the curious newcomer. Presented every week by Canada's blues emissary, Holger Petersen, head of Stony Plain Records and longtime CKUA host, the program is a collection of the best music of the genre and interviews with the greatest names in blues.

So sit back, pour yourself a drink, and listen to this intriguing conversation with one of Canada's best blues musicians and one of Canada's most celebrated blues tastemakers:
